CS observations of the hotspot at the S 155/Cepheus B interface

چکیده
We have used the IRAM 30-m telescope to map, in the J=2–1, J=3–2 and J=5–4 rotational transitions of CS, the molecular hotspot located south-east of the Cepheus OB3 association, at the interface that divides the S 155 diffuse Hii region from the Cepheus B molecular cloud. We have also used the FCRAO 13.7-m telescope to map the larger scale CS(2– 1) emission. The ' 1′ × 1′ segment that has been mapped at higher spatial resolution with the 30-m telescope covers four radio continuum sources, one of which (source A) is a blister– type Hii region. By using the CS molecule we analyse: i) the molecular density at the interface region and ii) the kinematics of the molecular gas at the front. The observations confirm that the blister has created a cavity at the edge of the molecular hotspot and is bounded on its sharp side by a dense mlecular front in pressure equilibrium with the ionized gas. The near–IR star at the centre of the blister (A-NIR) is responsible for its ionization and for the heating of the hotspot.

Study of Photon Dominated Regions in Cepheus B
Aims. The aim of the paper is to understand the emission from the photon dominated regions in Cepheus B, estimate the column densities of neutral carbon in bulk of the gas in Cepheus B and to derive constraints on the factors which determine the abundance of neutral carbon relative to CO. Methods. This paper presents 15×15 fully sampled maps of [C ] at 492 GHz and 12CO 4–3 observed with KOSMA ...
متن کاملMolecular hydrogen observations of Cepheus A West ?
The Herbig–Haro complex GGD37 is an active region in the west of Cepheus A. We have used the ISO Short Wavelength Spectrometer (SWS) to investigate the physics of this region by observations of molecular hydrogen and forbidden atomic and ionic emission lines over a wide wavelength and excitation energy range. We find excitation temperatures of the emitting molecular gas to be between 700 and 11...
متن کاملModeling the millimeter emission from the Cepheus A young stellar cluster: Evidence for large scale collapse
Evidence for a large scale flow of low density gas onto the Cepheus A young stellar cluster is presented. Observations of K-band near-infrared and multi-transition CS and N2H + millimeter line emission are shown in relation to a sub-millimeter map of the cool dust around the most embedded stars. The near-infrared emission is offset from the dust peak suggesting a shift in the location of star f...
متن کاملIs the Cepheus E Outflow driven by a Class 0 Protostar ?
New early release observations of the Cepheus E outflow and its embedded source, obtained with the Spitzer Space Telescope, are presented. We show the driving source is detected in all 4 IRAC bands, which suggests that traditional Class 0 classification, although essentially correct, needs to accommodate the new high sensitivity infrared arrays and their ability to detected deeply embedded sour...

In this paper we present new radio and near-infrared observations of a bright H knot located southeast of the Cepheus OB3 association, near the ionization front that divides the S155 diiuse H ii region from the Cepheus B molecular cloud. The arcsec resolution VLA radio continuum images reveal that the previously unresolved radio source # 9, coincident with the H knot, is composed of four distin...
